How My Medium Readers Saved My Sanity

A story you will write for me

Hoping the answer is blowing in the wind. Picture of me, by me.

Dear Medium Readers,

Have you started multiple blogs? Do you have one on Wordpress, two on Blogger, and one you’ve completely lost? Are you, like me, posting on Substack and sort of forgetting about Medium until you get a notification in your email that someone read The Mona Lisa of Snakes and you think, “I’ve got to do something about Medium!”? Have you started and stopped and restarted your Premium subscription to Medium because you too want to be a part of the game?

Pull up a chair; I want to hear all about it. I want you to tell me if I should reinstate this Medium blog, where I get an occasional clap, and if so why, or should I throw it all over to Substack where my readers engage with me regularly.

Seems obvious, but it’s not. Because, you see, there is still something teasingly, come-hitherly, seductively fetching about Medium. I just can’t put my finger on what it is.

I turn to you, Medium readers, to save my sanity.

  • Do you write on multiple blogs? Why or why not?
  • If you write on multiple blogs, do you have a different target audience for each?
  • Do any of you write the same posts on both Medium and Substack? I read somewhere that the Lord of Algorithms disapproves, but hey, I was also told I couldn’t give up breastfeeding for three months and go back to it and guess what? I did. So…

Dang, that was a long time ago. Why did I bring that up?

Obviously, I’m losing it. Help me out. Save my sanity.

Thank you,

Mary
